Hi and welcome to my store! I am Kim Boyce Thomas and I have been making bears, bunnies and various other critters now since about 1995. I have been collecting all type of bears since I was a kid. In my 20's, I started strictly collecting only mohair animals. I find there is simply no substitution for the wonderful feel and look of mohair. I soon discovered, however, that mohair is extremely expensive and I would have to limit my collection to one or two bears a year. That is when I decided to start making my own. All of my animals are made with mohair. Occasionally, I will use a German synthetic if I am after a certain "look." I use strictly glass eyes and either polyester or wood wool stuffing. I use plastic or glass pellets for a softer feel in the tummies as well. I tend to use mostly 100% wool for the paw pads, but have some ultra-suede on hand too. Lately, I have been into needle felting so you may see some felted eyes, paws, noses and various other details. I try to describe my animals the best that I can, but feel free to email me if you have any questions.
This is a picture of Holly, my Boston Terrier. She is the inspiration for many of my bears and critters. She likes to sit on my lap when I sew and occasionally "hides" my mohair!
